Achievement Behavior Services (ABS) is an agency comprised of ABA Behavior Therapists, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), and a strong administrative team who work together to provide Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy services for children all ages with Autism spectrum disorders (including Asperger’s). Our offices are located in Nassau County, New York City, and Queens, but we provide services at home, community and schools throughout New York and Central New Jersey.
We specialize in providing intensive, individualized one-to-one treatment rooted in the principles of ABA in order to meet our clients’ needs. Our treatment plans focus on increasing skills that will lead to increased opportunities, involvement, and independence while simultaneously decreasing problem behavior and other barriers to learning.
Our mission is to decrease the challenges faced and enhance the lives of individuals with ASD and their families by providing one-to-one instruction, education, training, guidance, and resources.
WHAT IS ABA THERAPY?
ABA Therapy (Applied Behavioral Analysis) is a scientific application of the principles of behavior and learning to build and increase useful behaviors through methods such as positive reinforcement while reducing harmful behaviors through positively reinforced interventions. Through assessment in everyday situations such as home and school, behaviors are targeted and a detailed therapy plan is developed. Throughout the treatment, data is recorded and analyzed in order to show progress of meaningful change and to evaluate, modify, and refine treatment for the most socially significant outcomes.
Research over the last 40+ years has shown the efficacy of ABA Therapy for individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Our services begin with an intake consultation with a member of our administrative team. This is a time where families are able to discuss primary areas of concern and determine if ABC can meet their needs. During this process our team will determine eligibility for services and navigate the insurance process for you. You will be asked to fill out an application, provide proof of medical diagnosis of Autism spectrum disorder, provide a prescription for ABA Therapy services, and provide proof of insurance.
The next step is to assess your child’s skill level, which is necessary to guide the development of an individualized Autism treatment plan. The assessment will be conducted by a licensed Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and will include the use of various assessment tools. Typically, assessments are conducted in the home setting. However, arrangements can be made to conduct the assessment in an area that best suits your family’s needs.
