Our Initial ABA Assessment is a two-step process that begins with an intake consultation. This is the stage where our staff meets with the family to discuss areas of concern and to determine if our services will provide what your child needs for proper treatment. It is at this step that we determine a potential client’s eligibility and aid with insurance coverage issues. We require parents to fill out an application as well as provide proof of ASD diagnosis, insurance, and a prescription for ABA therapeutic services.
The second step of the process involves the assessment of your child and their skill level. We employ a variety of assessment tools that aid with better understanding their individual needs. This step is critical in forming a treatment plan that is specific to your child’s needs. While we usually conduct the assessment in the child’s home, we can make arrangements that will work best for the family and their needs.
Our staff includes Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), who will conduct the initial assessment. The protocols that we have established allow our analysts to best diagnose a child and create an individual treatment plan for them. Our goal is to include the child’s parents in all steps of the process, including the initial assessment.
The first step is to have a formal diagnosis so that the severity of the child’s autism is documented. Keep in mind that yearly assessments help to chart an ASD child’s progress when compared to previous assessments. An initial assessment allows us to establish a baseline to work with.
It is beneficial to have a comprehensive developmental assessment done before a child starts treatment. This should measure all areas of development and will provide a greater overall understanding. The developmental assessment will help to highlight areas that may require greater focus when developing a treatment plan. This may include measuring adaptive skills, cognition, motor skills, as well as emotional and social development.
We have ABA therapy agency services in New Jersey, New York, and Queens that can be contacted to let you know which of these services are available at the time. The information gathered from these assessments are designed to show a child’s functioning when compared to their peers. They help us to map out a child’s emotional and mental parameters. Depending upon the severity of autism, other assessments may be required.
Research over the last 40+ years has shown the efficacy of ABA Therapy for individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
We have had a wonderful experience working with ABC. Our son is well-supported and his technician shows such care and compassion for him even through his most challenging moments & days. Our BCBA Stefanie has been a wealther of knowledge and support as well. She has helpd with the school, preparing us with progres reports, strategies and suggestions as well as data for our doctors vists. We have seen progress against goals and an increas in confidence in our son. We are so glad that we found ABC!
We have been working with ABC for over 3 years for our son on the Autism Spectrum. He has been making many strides and we are very happy with their services. Our BCBA Stefanie is phenomenal and we couldn't be happier with how they have helped our son.
I want to take the time to thank you guys for all your hard work. I know your job isn't easy but I want you to know that your hard work is paying off. My son is doing things he's never done before interested in potty believe it or not he grabs my hand and takes me to the bathroom so he can sit although he doesn't do anything but he takes me. He eats oranges and strawberries that was unheard of a few months ago he sometimes eats with a spoon even if it's for a few seconds that was unheard of he's more attentive omg the list goes on.
